Chop onions.
Melt butter over medium heat in a large pan. (Or, if you want fewer dishes, do this step in a large pot).
Drain chicken. Or you can use leftover cooked chicken, cubed.
Place onions in heated, melted butter and cook until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
Add chicken.
Stir and cook until butter is absorbed.
Dump chicken and onions into a large pot.
Add water and turn heat to medium high.
Add cream of chicken soup.
Add chicken bouillon granules.
Add poultry seasoning.
Stir to blend ingredients.
In a separate bowl, add milk.
Add Bisquick to milk.
Stir well to make dumplings.
Drop heaping spoonfuls of dough into boiling soup.
Cover and reduce heat to medium low.
Simmer for 10 minutes.
Flip dumplings. Simmer for another 10 minutes with pot covered.
Dish soup and dumplings into individual bowls. Sprinkle with dried basil if desired. Serve and enjoy!
