Insert skewers deeply into core of the apples.
For chocolate covered apples: Heat chocolate chips in a bowl over boiling water, stir often.
For caramel apples: Heat caramel in microwave for two minutes with two tbsp of milk. Stir every 20 seconds.
Tip: to help the caramel/chocolate stick to the apple, dip the apples into boiling water for 5 seconds. This will help remove its waxy coating.

Gently compress and rotate the apple against the toppings.
