You need a pan or a cooking pot. It is important to use a pan that you can see the color of the caramel. And use white sugar. Also it is important to see the developing color of the caramel.
Start by heating your pot at medium heat. Mine is 1-9 I put at 6. Leave it to heat for 5 mins at least
Now add 1 tbsp
Usually the sugar will start to melt immediately with slight coloring
Add more sugar 1 tbsp at a time
And so on
Keep adding sugar bit by bit over the already caramelized sides
At this point lower the heat
At this point use the spoon to mix in the unmelted sugar
And the caramel is done. Now if you want a darker caramel cook for 1 more minute or so
