First sauté your onion with the 2 tablespoons of butter and set aside in a bowl
Make your rue by combining the half stick of butter and flour stir to make sure there are no lumps!!!! At low heat so it doesn't burn either
Add chicken stock and half and half and let simmer for 25 mins stirring occasionally
Add broccoli all cut up, carrots and the sauté onions you set aside earlier then let simmer for another 25mins or until all vegetables are tender then serve along side your favorite french bread
