Brigadeiro is a popular Brazilian dessert with a caramel-like texture and a chocolatey flavor. It can be put into jars and given as gifts, or rolled up into small truffles with toppings.
On low heat, melt the butter in the pan.
Add the condensed milk and cocoa and stir.
Stir constantly on medium- low heat until you can clearly see the bottom of the pan while stirring. Do not boil.
If you are storing in a jar, pour into the selected jars and wipe the rim of the jar with a wet paper towel. Screw on lid and store in the refrigerator.
If you choose to make truffles, pour the brigadeiro "batter" into a clean bowl, and refrigerate until it reaches a clay-like texture. Use butter to grease hands.
Scoop about a teaspoon of "batter" into hands and roll into balls. Place in mini cupcake wrappers in an airtight container. For toppings you could use chopped pistachios, sprinkles, etc.
