Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease 9x5x3 bread pan or muffin pan.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift all purpose flour, baking soda, and salt together and add to creamed mixture, mixing well.
Mash bananas with a fork.
Fold in bananas, vanilla, and nuts.
Pour mixture into pan and bake for 55 minutes. If using muffin pan, use fork coming out clean as tester after muffins have browned.
