Gather the remaining ingredients to prepare the cake balls.

Place all of the crumbled cake into a large mixing bowl.

Add the cream cheese frosting to the crumbles in the bowl.

Mix until all the frosting is completely incorporated.

Line a couple of cutting boards with foil if desired (easier clean up) as you will use these on which to first form, then freeze, then dip the cake balls.

Roll the cake balls between your hands into balls about the diameter of a quarter.  As the balls get too sticky, wash and dry your hands and begin again.

Place the chocolate chips in a microwave proof bowl and microwave on 50% power for 3-4 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds.

The chocolate chips should be heated until they stir "smooth" as in the photo above, but be careful not to overheat the chocolate as it will taste grainy and bitter.

  • One can Cream Cheese Frosting (16oz)
  • Two bags Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips (12 oz)
