How to make arroz con gandulez (puerto rican rice)
I have made some modifications to this recipe, will post a complete new one soon.

INGREDIENTS
My home made sofrito you can buy it at the store or make it yourself
Gandulez look like this 😉
Those are our major ingredients : olives , sazon, tomato sauce, gandulez , bacon
What sofrito or recaito looks like
4 thick slices of bacon rough chopped
Put a little vegetable oil in the rice and stir it up
Then add two packets of sazon it makes it a light orange color
Fry up the bacon make sure it's crispy then add one packet of sazon
The rice should look like that
Add the sofrito to the bacon right before adding the rice do this on a medium high heat UPDATE: I now take the bacon out and leave the fat of the oil.
Mix the rice in and stir till it looks like that, you may add chopped sweet peppers now
Dump the entire can of gandulez including the liquid we don't use much water for this
The add the entire little can of tomato sauce
Add olives and stir
Half a cup of water
It should look like this it takes about 45 min for this rice to cook add water slowly and stir often
In the end 😛😍😍😍
And that's my scrubby ass ready to grubb hope you enjoy it 😘

- 1/2c Sofrito/ recaito
- 1.0 Can of Gandulez / pigeon peas
- 3.0c White rice
- 3.0c Packets of sazon with annatto
- 1.0c Green olives
- 4.0c Peices of bacon
- 1.0 Small can of tomato sauce
- Salt and pepper
- 2.0 Sweet yellow or red peppers
