How to make an ipad case

Collect all of your supplies and cut your fabric to the given measurements. I used 3 different patterns of the lightweight fabric but you could use the same fabric for all 3 pieces if you wish.

Choose the piece of 10"x8" lightweight fabric you wish to use for the back of the case. Pin the 5.5"x8" fabric (the flap) to the back along the 8" edge. Right sides together!

Sew along the pinned edge, leaving a 1/4" seam.

Open the 2 pieces and iron the seam flat.

Lay the piece you just sewed, right side down, on the 15"x8" piece of flannel. Pin along the sides and top of the flap. Do not pin along the seam of the back and flap.

Sew along the sides and the top, leaving a 1/4" seam. Do NOT sew along the seam of the back and the flap.

Clip the corners, turn and press the flap. You should have a piece that looks like this, with the top and sides of the flap sewn and the rest open.

Pin the 8" edges of the remaining pieces of lightweight fabric and flannel, right sides together. Sew along the pinned edge, leaving a 1/4" seam. This is the front of the case.

Flip the lightweight fabric of the front over the flannel and press the seam. You should have 2 pieces that look like this, backed with flannel.

Match the front to the back, right sides together and pin along the sides and bottom. Do not pin the top.

Trim the sides and clip the corners. Turn the case right side out and press the whole thing.

Find your elastic and button.

Fold the piece of elastic in half and sew to the underside of the flap

Mark where you would like the button to go and sew in place. Remember to stretch the elastic a little to find the best place for the button.
