Hold the end of the yarn between your thumb and middle finger.

Wrap the yarn over your index finger and back down behind your middle finger.

Wrap around 10 more times.

Cut the yarn, leaving a 6 inch tail.

Wrap the yarn around your index finger and then, instead of also going around your middle finger, put it between your fingers.

Wrap the tail around all the yarn.

Put it under the part of the tail between your fingers.

Pull it tight.

Knot it one more time.

Pull it tight again.

Slide the "bow" off your fingers.

Slip the scissors through one side of the bow.

Cut all the loops.

Do the same with the other side: slide the scissors through the loops.

Cut it, like you did the other side.

Squish it around between your fingers to even out the strands.

All done!

Add the pompom to something. They look great on kids' scarves and hats!

Two things: I know that it's supposed to be pompoN and not pompoM, but I grew up saying "pompom," so that's how it is! :) And I'm sorry about the state of my nails--I really need to redo them!
