Almond milk and milk of your choice. I use 2% milk. You can use coconut, soy or rice milk if you prefer.  I hear it's really good with coconut milk.

Freeze the Almond Milk into a 12 cube ice tray. You can do this 5 hours before.

Blend till smooth. Ninjas only come with 1 setting.

I use a Ninja. Don't own a regular blender because they don't crush ice well.  Throw all 12 cubes in the blender with 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon vanilla  and 1 cup milk.

You may add more milk if you like it thinner. More sugar or different sweetener according to diet or taste preferences.

To make other flavors you can throw in a cup of fresh or frozen fruit to make fruity shakes or 1/2 cup cocoa powder to make chocolate shakes.

I found this recipe when I was pregnant with Lil man and had gestational diabetes. Originally calls for coconut milk frozen into cubes and almond milk sweetened with sugar substitute.

My kids love Almond Milkshakes. The baby hasn't tried it yet. They drink it for breakfast or as dessert.

Finished product. It has a creamy texture but not iced or watered down. I like to use a spoon.
