STEPS
INGREDIENTS
Get cutting board along with 1 chef knife, 1 paring knife, and 1 v-shaped garnishing tool. Under your cutting board, make sure you place a damp paper towel to prevent sliding while cutting.
Get one decent sized zucchini depending on what size you want the turtles. The bigger the easier.
Cut each end of the zucchini off as the shell and 2 1-inch thick sections as the bodies.
Take the v-shaped garnishing tool and create a ring around the bottom half of the turtle shell.
Then starting at the top of the shell, take the v-shaped garnishing tool and begin making hexagon shapes down the shell to create the effect of a turtle shell.
Make 2 small cuts about half an inch apart but do not go all the way through the slice.
Cut across the bottom to the cut you previously made. Do not cut the middle section out. Complete on both sides.
Make a small cut about 1/3 of the center section and do not cut all the way through. You are then going to slice the larger portion off.
Begin cutting small diagonal pieces out for the legs. 3 on each side.
Complete on both sides
Using your paring knife cut half way and the cut down to create the head
Using your paring knife create a small cut halfway into the head and peal out the skin of the zucchini to create the mouth. Make small indentations in the side of the head for places to put the eyes.
Cut a small place out for the head to fit into. Measure if needed.
Place the shell on turtle when done. and place peppercorns in indentations that were made previously.
