How to make a two part plaster mold

Mold Making & Casting Chicago presents:

Carefully find and mark the parting line on your object with a marker

Accurately create your parting line with water clay.

Make keys in the clay and add a pour spout.

Coat your model and clay with watered down Murphy's oil soap and let dry.

Cover your model and clay with plaster

Flip the mold, remove the clay and clean clay residue well. Create the second half of your pour spout.

Coat your model and plaster with soap and water mixture and let dry.

Apply plaster to the second half.

Carefully open your mold with hammer and chisel.
