For the outside you want 2 35 by 50cm bag panels. Use the tape measure to measure it out and put pins in the fabric on the correct length. Or you can put a small line using tailors chalk.
Using the scissors, cut along where the pins are. If an edge is sewn up on the fabric you are using, cut along it. If you don't, the bag won't work.
You will now need 2 10 by 46cm side panels. This is with the same material as the bag panels.
For the pocket you will need one 20 by 15cm rectangle in the same material as the bag and side panels. Or, you can mix it up and go for the liner or the handle material.
For the handles you will need 2 65 by 8cm strips in a different or the same material. I have gone for pink silk.
For the lining you will need 2 35 by 48cm bag panels. This is in a different material.
For the rest of the lining you will need 2 10 by 43cm side panels. This is in the same material as the bag panels lining.
Put the right sides together and sew the bottom edge.
Place centre of side panel on bottom seam right sides facing. Sew together within 5cm of seam allowance for side panel.
Sew the side panels on to the main part of the bag.
Sew pocket onto bag panel lining. Use a zig-zag stitch for decoration.
Repeat steps 8 to 10 with lining fabric. Then, sew the lining into the main part of the bag.
For the handles, fold the rectangle in half and sew one end leave the other one open. Then, turn them the right way.
Sew on the handles 8cm from the corner and 5cm down from the top of the bag. Use a big zig-zag stitch and sew a square onto the end of the handle. This will help it to carry heavy loads at one time.
The finished product! Good luck!
