How to make a self-forming star with toothpicks

Take 5 toothpicks

Break one at the middle. Don't break completely, it needs to stay attached.

Repeat with other four.

Arrange them as shown and move the breaks close together at the middle.

With the right kind of surface, just the right amount of water and a bit of luck, it should end up something like this. :)
