Leave the kombucha out until it is room temperature. In a metal pan boil water & sugar until completely dissolved (approx 5 minutes) add tea bags & stir an additional minute or two.

Turn off flame & allow to sit until mix is room temp. Remove (do not ring out) tea bags and dispose of them after they have steeped for at least 20 minutes.

Once blend has reached room temperature pour half of the two (or one) kombuchas into the jar ensuring that all the remnants at the bottom are now in the jar.

Pour in the sweet tea, cover with cloth (I cut an old CLEAN dress) & secure tightly with rubber band. Place jar a in dark & temp controlled place (for me this was a corner in the kitchen).

It will take approx 4-5 weeks depending on temperature conditions for it to grow completely. You will want it to be at least 1/8th thick (the picture reflects day 7).

Happy kombucha making! The next tutorial will be how to make kombucha once my scoby is mature enough!
