STEPS
INGREDIENTS
Set the oven to 175 degrees C.
Peel and slice the apples.
Melt the butter; the original recipe says butter but I've used vegetable margarine.
Mix wheat flour and baking powder, then add to the butter.
Also add sugar and oats...
..treacle..
Add cream. I used a product made of oats since a friend of mine is allergic to milk, so it doesn't look or act like regular cream.
Add the apples to the pie tin. DON'T use the kind of pie tin where you can remove the sides. I did and what happened?? Well the butter leaked into the oven. Not great so avoid that 😞
Dust the apples with cinnamon, cardamon and Muscovado sugar.
Sprinkle the apples with the lime peel, and then add the rum.
Lastly add the chopped pecans.
Cover the apple slices with the dough. Cook in the oven for 30-40 minutes.
It tastes even more if you wait a day or two to serve it, but that can be tricky once you have smelled it 😀
Serve with vanilla icecream or vanilla sauce.
