How to make a round mound arrangement

First, begin with the dish. It will be what you place the floral foam in.

Cut the amount of foam that will fit in the dish. In this case, it was about one third of a brick. Soak it for about a minute, holes down, in a clean sink with a squirt of floral foam.

Once the Oasis has stopped bubbling and has sunk underwater, remove it from the sink and insert it into the dish. Either side can be face up. Press it down with the palm of your hand to avoid indents.

Once the Oasis is inserted firmly into the dish, bevel the edges. In simpler terms, slice the edges on a diagonal as pictured above to form a wider surface area.

Secure the foam by using your anchor tape. It must be used on a diagonal across the foam but not over the center. Attach the tape ends shortly below the sides of the dish.

Next, insert pieces of Leatherleaf. One should be inserted at the center of each side of the Oasis and touching the top of the dish. Two should be inserted back to back in the top center.

The prior pieces should be moderately large. Begin putting other pieces of Leatherleaf into the Oasis in empty spaces, as too much empty space is not pleasing to the eye.

Continue "greening" your arrangement until it is covered thickly with Leatherleaf.

Next, cut six mini carnations. One should be inserted into the Oasis directly at the top center of the arrangement. The other five should be inserted at the bottom equally to make a star-like shape.

Continue adding carnations in blank spaces as well as adding Pom Pon chrysanthemums. Remember to keep the height of the arrangement at about two times the dish height so it will not look flat.

Add filler flower. In this case, yellow Solidago was used. It creates rhythm through radiation and contributes to the mound's unity. After adding filler, your arrangement should be finished! Enjoy!
