You will need to bring 2 liters of water to boil
Clean all the ingredients properly, esp. the water chestnuts.
Peel the skin of the water chestnuts, if the color of the water chestnut is yellowish, get rid of if.
Chop everything into 'cubes', you may want to chop your sugarcane in half with your chef knife to make the sweet flavor come out faster, it's not that hard, trust me.
Put everything into the boiling water and let them simmer for 30-45 min. Season to taste, try to use brown sugar.
Chill this in the fridge, it's really refreshing.
