STEPS
TOOLS
Assemble Supplies as listed
Cut plaster into 1 to 2 inch strips
Coat non-dominant hand in lotion or Vaseline
Immerse strip completely in water
Choose hand position and begin applying plaster strips ensuring that your hand stays still in its position
After each strip application, smooth the strip until all holes have become blended into one opaque strip
Continue applying strips to hand, ensuring that each piece overlaps the one placed before it
Continue applying and smoothing strips
Be sure to view your hand from all directions to avoid leaving any part of the hand undone
When the entire hand has been covered, apply a second or even third layer of plaster
Once your hand is completely coated with 2-3 layers of plaster, hold it still and let it dry for 5-10 minutes
Put unused plaster away, throw away all trash and empty water container
When your hand can wiggle in sculpture without disturbing its form, begin to try to separate hand from the plaster walls
Carefully begin to pull sculpture from your hand
Completely remove sculpture
