(If needed) saw your scrap wood into 2 small pieces. Mine are roughly 2" x 3" x 2"...

My 2 small scrap wood pieces

Screw your shelving bracket to your wood, I used the outer screw hole.

(Crap photo sorry) both pieces screwed to the shelving brackets.

My wasted wall space...

Screw the shelf brackets to the wall with the wood facing up.

Place your board in the once wasted wall space. All done!
