STEPS
TOOLS
This is the equipment you will need.....
You will need to mark out a perfect square on the sheet metal with your scribe and ruler....
Cut the sheet metal with the guillotine....
Draw two diagonal lines from corner to corner, creating a X with your scribe...
Use the centre punch and ballpin hammer to create a divot in the centre of the square where the lines intersect....
Use the divider to create a circle, make sure you place the pointed part in the divot so that you made to get a perfect circle...
Use the tinsnips to cut out the circle you drew....
Drill a hole with the drill press in the centre where the divot is....
File the sheet metal so it becomes smooth on the edges, you can use a vice to keep the metal stable....
With the wooden mould, place the sheet metal over the rounded part and start hammering with the tinmans mallet. The metal should start to divot and shape....
Once it has been shaped this should be the finished product of your wax catcher....
Now take a 20cm piece of flat bar and file the edges....
With your flat bar use the scroll template and bend the metal....
Don't bend it too far, only bend to about this far....
This should be what the flat bar should look like after you have scrolled....
Measure 8cm off the end of the flat bar with the scribe and cut it with a hacksaw...
On the 8cm piece, draw two diagonals lines form corner to corner, creating an X with the scribe, then do a centre punch in the centre where the lines intersect....
Drill one hole in the centre of the 8cm piece of the flat bar and another hole about 1cm from the edge of the scrolled of flat bar....
Measure about 1.5cm from the edge of each side of the 8cm piece and draw a line with the scribe. Then line it up with the top of the vice and use your ballpin hammer to hammer the metal to bend the it
Get a pop rivet and place all the elements together with the rivet in the holes....
Place the pop rivet gun over the pop rivet and open and close twice, when you hear or feel a click, pull up and it should be done, and everything is held firmly together....
This is the finished product....
