TOOLS
Your supplies. My husbands power drill which I use when he's not home makes it a lot easier.
my dowels came in pkg of 22 , save extras for doweling cakes when stacking.
Drill holes the size of your small dowels (hangers) in 1 larger one (the post). I am using a vise to control my dowel while drilling because that takes 2 hands. Drill 2 holes, turn post 180.
Safety first because drilling a hole in your hand hurts!
The dowel fits perfectly so is stable.
Check your holes for correct placement..2 holes about 4-5 inches apart, then turn your dowel 180 degrees and drill holes spaced between first 2 so they alternate placement.
Mark the center of your base and drill a hole so that the post fits smugly...use a spot of glue and a hammer tap or two to make sure it is secure. Do not glue the arms so that you can move them.
Sand the holes lightly.
Hang your gumpaste/fondant flowers safely..adjust arms to fit without bumping each other. Sorry about the ugly flowers, my first orchid attempt. This rack is great for roses.
A few sweet peas go on..
- 4.0 wood dowels, thin, for hangers (12 inches long)
- 1.0 thicker diameter dowel for post (12 in.)
- sanding paper, fine
- drill
- glue
- A wood base of about 4-6 inches.
