STEPS
INGREDIENTS
Start with slicing your loaf of bread.
I'm making two sandwiches here.
Gather your ingredients.
Start shredding your cheese. You'll need 1 cup (or more) of Gruyere cheese. It has a nice nutty flavor and melts great in sandwiches.
Also shred 1/4 cup Parmesan and 1/4 cup asiago. In this picture, gruyere is on the left, and the Parmesan is on the right. Combine the gruyere and asiago cheeses in a bowl.
Combine 1 cup mayonnaise, 1/4 cup Dijon mustard, 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese in a bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste and mix.
This is the spread that we will put on the bread before all the other ingredients.
Grab your bacon and put it on an oven proof pan.
Cook the bacon until it's to your desired crispness. It only takes a couple minutes in a 425° oven. You can also cook it on the stove, if you prefer.
Lay out your slices of bread.
Start spreading a good layer of butter on all slices. This will add a rich flavor to our sandwiches and helps brown the bread on the grill.
Once buttered, flip the slices over.
Take a spoon and start spreading the mayonnaise and mustard mixture over the bread. Don't skimp, and make sure all slices have this spread on top!
I use the back of the spoon to spread it easier.
It looks good already! But we're not done yet...
Take some of the gruyere and asiago cheese mix and place on one of the two slices of bread.
This is the pre-sliced honey ham I had in the fridge. You can use any type of ham you prefer.
Place a layer of ham on top of the cheese
Back to the bacon... take it out of the oven once it's done.
Chop the bacon into large bite-sized pieces.
Place a couple of pieces of bacon on top of the ham.
Add more of the gruyere and asiago on top of the bacon.
Top off the cheese with the other slice of bread.
Notice the buttered side is facing up.
The bottom should already be the buttered.
Heat up your grill or panini press.
Add your sandwiches and grill until it turns golden brown on the outside.
Squish and sizzle...! :)
Golden brown and delicious! Look at the cheese oozing out!
Tada! Now slice the sandwiches diagonally and eat!
