This is part 1 on how to make a gingerbread house! In this part we will cover the gingerbread part, enjoy!
Gather your big happy family of ingredients... Visit them in the supply's list!
Create some EVIL blueprints! This is the only fiddly part, copy the required amount of the templates onto grease proof paper
Sift your flour, bicarbonate of soda, ginger and cinnamon into a bowl
Rub in the butter, one of my tricks is to shake the bowl and watch those pesky lumps float to the top... It's magic!
Beat together the syrup and egg really fast, like a rocket or something
Knead, mix, knead, mix and a long time later we have this, some pretty great smelling dough!
Into the fridge for a little nap... 15 mins at least
Watch your dough as it roams in its natural habitat (flour your work surface)
Now's a good time to prepare some baking trays!
Roll it out till 1/2 a cm thick, I'm doing it half the dough at a time
Get a cutting thing and get to work on they shapes!
You should have; two roof panels, two sides, two front panels and some spare dough for other diabolical desserts (angels, candy canes, shooting stars...)
Bake at 180 degrees or 350 degrees Fahrenheit, just until golden brown... If it burns you'll be left to weep at the little remaining frazzles!
Riiiiise my pretties riiiise!
Mmmmmm... The sweet scent of gingerbread fills the air, I think they are done
Out! The other trays need to brown some more... This was the top tray
Leave them for ATLEAST 1/2 an hour before you even dream of touching them...
...but in my case I'm leaving them overnight! This has been how to make a gingerbread house part 1 by me! Please like, follow and more importantly comment! Bye P.S-part 2 is out now!
