This project was made for ages 7 and up :)

If you don't have a bigger paper than your canvas, cut a garbage bag so you can lay it flat on a surface. It's best if you cut a line directly through the center  of the bag. For reference look above.

Now place your garbage bag or big paper on a flat surface and place your canvas on top of it.

Squeeze your paints on to a plate separated so they do not touch and place the plate close to you.

Make a word or design out of masking tape and place it in the center of the canvas. Make sure if your doing words they are short simple words that don't have curvy letters. (Look at mine above^)

Some good words to use is live, life or love but if you feel like you can do a bigger curvy word go ahead make it interesting!!

Next take your pencil and very lightly draw the design you want in the background. Some ideas are make polka dots, animal print if you know how or different color areas blended together.

Take the masking tape again and place it all along the edges of the canvas.

Take your sponge and lightly start to fill in your design.

Hint this works best if you lightly keep dabbing the area you want painted.

Once you finished the first coat of paint, let it dry for an hour. If it is not dry yet leave it to dry for another hour.

After your paint has dried again, add a second coat if the color isn't bright enough.

If you did the second coat leave the paint to dry for another hour or two depending on if it dried.
