Start by laying the thread down the hook shank.

Get a piece of your chosen feather and trim as much as you want for your jig. More feather the fuller but not necessarily better.

Place the thread on the shank and run your bobbin of thread down towards the tail and back to the head. I usually go about the middle between the hook and head.

Place the chenille starting at the head and running towards the tail, then run the thread down the chenille to the tail and back to the head.
