Note - this looks better and the pattern is more effective when you use two different colours. I don't have any coloured paper left so I just used white.
Line the edge of the ruler with the edge of the paper and draw a line down the edge.
Do this twice - if you have more than one colour, do this once for each colour to have 2 strips. The strips also have to be the same width.
Cut these out.
Here are the two strips. If you are using two colours, cut one strip of each colour.
Lay the strips over each other at a right angle. Like this.
Take your glue.
Apply glue to one edge of one piece of paper (the bottom piece).
Put the other piece over the top. Make sure the glue dries a little before the next step to avoid it sliding everywhere!
Pick up the strip that is glued on top of the other. So the top strip.
Fold it over to be parallel with the other strip.
Now pick up the other strip.
And fold it over to make a right angle with the first strip.
Now pick up the strip you just folded.
And fold it back to become parallel with the other strip.
Now take the other strip.
And fold it over.
Repeat until you don't have enough paper to make another fold.
Take the edge of the strip on top.
And fold it in at a right angle.
Take the other strip and do the same.
Should look like this.
Apply glue to the small corner of the top strip that overlaps onto the other strip.
Stick it down.
