Pliers to remove the lanyard clip, lighter to burn off the frayed lanyard ends, x-acto knife to cut the lanyard (scissors will do too).

Use the pliers to remove clip from the lanyard by loosening the metal ring holding it. Keep the ring loose so you can insert it into the camera strap ring.
