How to make a camera wrist strap from an old lanyard

Pliers to remove the lanyard clip, lighter to burn off the frayed lanyard ends, x-acto knife to cut the lanyard (scissors will do too).

Find an old lanyard and cut it from the middle.

Use the pliers to remove clip from the lanyard by loosening the metal ring holding it. Keep the ring loose so you can insert it into the camera strap ring.

Use the lighter to burn off the frayed lanyard ends.

Place the lanyard into position.

Using the friendship bracelet slip knot to tie the ends. The slip knot will allow the straps length to be adjusted. Image from www.proknot.com

Form a C loop over the bottom strap.

Loop the top strap upwards over and under twice.

Slip the end into the loop and tighten knot. Repeat steps 7 to 9 to the other end.

Place the strap ring onto the camera strap ring and tighten with the pliers.

Finished strap attached to camera tightened.

Finished strap loosened.
