Start by placing the jig in the vice. And clamping it down so it is secure.

This is how the thread is covered by itself to hold it down. You may want to go back and forth a few times for more security.

Closer look at the whip finish knot. Basically it wraps itself over itself so it won't come  untied.  Here it looks like a upside down 4. The hole goes over the jighead.
