TOOLS
Used 9 in plate 9 1/2 inches down Feline assistance is totally optional
Cut ends off towel then cut in half. Do have enough for 2nd bib maybe for groom
Now on to making the bias tape. Cutting that will be challenging with Abby's help
It's been years since I've made my own bias tape do I'm struggling a bit here. Abby is really not helping. Going to press the fold & start making my parallel lines. Wish me luck
To carry fabric to ironing board & keep my fold with shiny fabric I pinned it. Abby decided not to appear in this picture. She's resting. On the other fabric
Marking my cutting lines. Cut out a guide from bottom of cardboard box. Using white tailors chalk pencil. Oh it's about a 2 inch guide as want double fold bias tape a half inch wide
Double fold bias tape pinned all the way around & ready to sew on. I made WAY too much purple bias tape!
Attaching the binding.
Unfolded bias tape and attached to bib. Used zig zag stitch as towel fabric tends to unravel. Then folded over edge & top stitch through all layers. On to embellishing
Going to trace powercat from sweatshirt & appliqué on
Well luckily I have lots of tissue paper. Abby is so much help
Tracing time.
As a true craftaholic I had some Tear-Easy lying around just asking to be used. Going to try appliqué technique with it. The sequin fabric is very flimsy so will use a layer under as well as above.
First using this. Carefully cutting away extra fabric & tearing stabilizer away. We'll see what is revealed. Hopefully a pretty awesome powercat.
At the tedious part of trying to get wisps of white paper (and blue marker on paper) out of stitches. Haven't quite mastered the tear away paper.
Here is second bib. I cut sequin fabric away before sewing this one. Had much better control w machine. This will be bride's as its sparkly & smaller. 1st one will be grooms
Carefully pulled of paper on top and at the edges. Carefully cut away fabric do white towel showed through. I'm very happy with finished product.
The happy bride & groom and their Kstate bibs.
