INGREDIENTS
Go berry picking! These are wild blackberries we found growing on public property. This cobbler works fine with fresh, frozen, or canned fruit.
I usually use margarine but I decided to try real butter tonight.
Place it in the oven to melt as the oven is preheating to 350.
"Look" the berries. I usually take a small handful and transfer them back & forth between hands as I look for bad spots, leaves, or bugs.
Rinse.
Meanwhile, place one cup of flour in a bowl.
Add one cup of sugar.
And 2 teaspoons of Baking Powder.
Mix dry ingredients.
Add one cup of milk. (Easy recipe to remember!)
Oh no!! Do NOT try real butter! This is not the desired outcome.
Back to the tried & true. Margarine!
Tongue Twister: "Betty Botter bought a bit of butter. But she said my butter's bitter. If I put it in my batter it will make my batter bitter but a bit of better butter will make my batter better!"
Yes, this IS what I wanted!
Pour the batter in the butter, not the butter in the batter. :). Just pour it all over, not dumping it all in one spot.
It should look sorta like this.
Add desired amount of berries by dropping the fruit on top. No stirring. If you like more bread, then don't use as much fruit. I have more berries than normal here...could have made two cobblers.
Place in the preheated oven.
For 30 minutes - give or take a little.
Fresh cobbler! Serve hot with a scoop of vanilla icecream if you have it. If you don't, then just a cold glass of milk will do! :)
Again, you can use fresh, frozen, or canned fruit. Cherries, blueberries, peaches, blackberries, mixed berries..... Enjoy!
