How to learn major and minor chords

A CHORD is three or more musical notes played at the same time. There are MAJOR CHORDS and there are MINOR CHORDS.

To play a MAJOR CHORD you put your first finger on the Letter of the Chord, your next finger 4 keys over (count the black keys), and your third finger 3 keys from that (count the black keys).

To play a MINOR CHORD you put your first finger on the Letter of the Chord, your next finger 3 keys over (count the black keys), and your third finger 4 keys from that (count the black keys)

There are 8 notes in an octave. A SHARP (#) is any note that is directly to the RIGHT of a note. A FLAT (b) is any note that is directly to the LEFT of a note. "D#" is the same note as "Eb". So...

TO play C-MAJOR, Your first finger goes on ''C''. Your 2nd finger goes on ''E''. Your third finger goes on ''G''. (Remember, 4-3).

For C-MINOR, your first finger goes on ''C''. Your 2nd finger goes on "E flat''. Your third finger goes on ''G''. (3-4)

F-MINOR: Your first finger goes on ''F''. Your 2nd finger goes on "G#". Your third finger goes on "C".

F-MAJOR: First finger on ''F''. 2nd finger on "A". Third finger on "C".

Now. To sound like a pro, play the same chord, whether major or minor, with your left and right hands at the same time. (Left hand for low notes, right hand for high notes.)

If you teeter totter back and forth between the two with a rhythm, you just about have a song.
