How to keep your dogs from sleeping on the sofa

We have a new sofa, it is dark brown and we don't want our dogs to sleep on it. But they do it when we're away or asleep. So here is what we did:

We bought a cheap room-divider off eBay. You might also have a look on Craigslist or garage sales.

Unscrew the hinges from the long sides...

... and screw them to the short sides.

These are long and slippery tiles, so make sure you have someone to help you.

You'll end up with something like this.

When you leave the house or go to bed, use it as a fence in front of your sofa.

Even looks quite nice.

In case your dogs still sleep on the sofa, use the room-divider-fence for training. Put it in front of the sofa when you're at home. Each time they try to jump over, forbid it. They'll learn!

It is a line your dogs won't cross.

Using felt pads you can even store it under the sofa without ruining the floor:

Put on the felt pads on one side of one of the panels.

Now you can slide it under the sofa.

The whole project set me back 40€. Assembly took 5 minutes.
