Gather your supplies! Your thread can be any color (obviously) but you want it to be thicker than regular sewing thread. Your hair bands need to be small and rubber too.
Your hair needs to be VERY VERY dirty! You also need to braid (plait) the section you want to dread the day before and sleep in it overnight.
Use your hair clip to keep the rest of your hair out of the way while you work.
Unravel your braid (plait). The wavy texture it leaves behind makes the process much easier.
In order to get maximum texture, your hair needs to be disgustingly dirty. I haven't washed it in about a week. I know it's gross, but that's what dry shampoo is for.
Use scissors to cut a length of thread that is about 1 and 2/3 the length of your dread WHEN FOLDED IN HALF. Mine is kind of small.
