How to heal a goldfish with a bacterial infection
MELA-FIX is the natural remedy you can buy. Or you can do this simple remedy

STEPS
TOOLS
Shut down circulation pumps to just one tank
Remove all fish and any potted plants from circulation and add 5ml of peroxide 3% to every 100 lts. I have 1000 lt so i added 50mls and left the pump running
I always have these in my first aid cupboard. You can buy them at your local pharmacy π΄π΄π΄BEWARE!!! MERCUROCHROME STAINS!!! ONLY BLEACH WILL REMOVE!!!π΄π΄π΄
Check and remove all affected fish. They are the ACROBAT swimmers with no co-ordination
The infected fish have missing scales that you can easily see the patches
Treat your breeding ponds if needed. But only if they share the same circulation water as the other fish
Take a cotton bud and dip it in the mercurochrome, scoop each fish up in a net and dab directly onto the open wounds. The water will look yellow tinted
After 30 mins , flush with fresh water. DO NOT RETURN TO PONDS JUST YET
Continue to drain and fill the isolation tank every 4-6hrs. The cut off circulating tank should remain circulating alone for at least 24hrs before opening to the other ponds.
It wouldn't hurt to go buy MELA-FIX to treat the other ponds to reduce re-infection. You can assume they all have come into contact with the bacteria. Happy pond keeping :)
This picture is 24hrs after notice the patches have already got new scale growth :)
A few MONTHS later... And Jo is happy π The new scale growth has little or no colour, but now has a protective layer over them, and allows Jo to swim :)
This is now going to be Jo's outdoor home... He's a great Male stock.,, so happy this method is stable!
The food supply continues to build up ready to feed young fry π
- Peroxide (3% solution)
- Mercurochrome
- Isolation tank or bucket
- Fresh water
- Fish net
