STEPS
INGREDIENTS
To make your own kombucha, you need a healthy SCOBY, a Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast. You can get a bottle of GT's Organic Raw Kombucha - Original at Whole Foods.
Choose a bottle with lotsa scoby strands at the bottom. Take the cap off the kombucha, cover with a paper coffee filter and elastic. Leave out of direct sun at 70°F undisturbed for 2 weeks.
Transfer the scoby and kombucha to a larger canning jar. You may have to help it out with a wooden utensil (do not use metal). We want the scoby to grow big + healthy so it will thrive.
A thin layer of new SCOBY will begin to form on the top of the kombucha. Leave it out of direct sunlight and undisturbed for another 2 weeks until the SCOBY is about 1/4 inch thick.
When your scoby is big and healthy, you can use it to make kombucha from sweet tea. See my snapguide on how to make your own kombucha w/ the scoby snapguide.com/guides/make-your-own-kombucha-at-home/
Keep the old kombucha as starter for the new batch of kombucha and the kombucha bottle to reuse when you bottle your own kombucha.
