Fill the jar with water and place plant so that the bottom of plant crown is barely getting wet. Too deep and it will rot. Sometimes I tape a leaf to the jar to hold the plant in place.

This is my cutting after only 2 days!  You can see white roots already coming out of the bottom of the plant. When there are at least 4 roots that are 2 inches long you are ready to plant the cutting
