I always search around the web for ideas on how to preserve my herbs. I stumbled upon a blog and I can not tell you how much of a blessing that has been for me.

I wish I can remember the name of the blog to thank them for teaching me how to preserve my herbs. I will now pass that on to you all. It really works I am proof it does😁

Freezing herbs keeps it fresh longer. This works with almost all herbs. Especially if you freeze them in oil. Excellent like that. There are many ways to freeze them depending on who you ask.

Rinse and dry them well. Remove the stems if you want. Now is a good time to start  thinking about what you will be using the herbs for before freezing them. For soups? Stews? Tomato sauce? Tea?

Tear or chop up your herbs as fine or as coarse as you want, no biggy. It all depends how you will be using them. You can also freeze a combo. I like to freeze basil and parsley together. \ud83d\ude0d

I purchased this tray at shoprite. It allows me to freeze small quantities, especially of cilantro since it is a very strong aromatic herb. Use any trays you have.

Here in this tray i will add my chopped basil. I am preserving them In oil. I use them when I am making tomato sauce. You can also use melted butter. Like i said it depends how u will be using them\ud83d\ude0a

After I finished adding the water and oil to my herbs I put them in my freezer for 24 hours. Once frozen put them in freezer bags that have been labeled and dated.

My cilantro is frozen solid and ready to go In a freezer bag. I no longer have to buy those small little trays of herbs they sell in trader joes. So expensive. Woohooo now I save money too.\ud83d\udc4c\ud83d\udc4c\ud83d\udc4d\ud83d\udc4d

Here is my basil in oil. Love it. I just love the ease of taking herbs at their peak and freezing them.πŸ™Œ

Some folks rinse and dry their herbs and pop them in freezer bags. This works for some herbs such as thyme,rosemary, sage etc. Do what works for you. This is just a nice option to consider.
