"Freebreeze," anyone? πΏππΊπ²π³ Use a food steamer to naturally fragrance your home with plant materials you've foraged. Start by Googling terms like "fragrant trees", "scented plants."π³π²πΈππΏ
Then, take a hike and start sniffing!
Blue Juniper - has a juniper piney, orange scent.
Rosemary
Wax Myrtle seeds have bay berry scent.
Wax myrtle leaves have a stronger lemony eucalyptus fragrance.
Mum plant tips have a carnation like scent.
Star gum trees have a beechnut gum scent.
Scrub pine needles have a fresh pine scent.
Wild fennel weed has an anise carrot scent.
Basil. I use the stems and save the leaves for cooking.
In 15 minutes and just in my own yard, I collected a bowlful of 7 different outdoor fragrances.
Fill steamer with water as in normal use.
Pack plant materials in the steamer basket and steam away! Awwww, I left the lid askew so the steamy natural fragrance wafted through my home.
ππΏπΎPlant selection will vary based on your environment. We have an abundance of pine and wax myrtle here in the Carolinas. πΎπΏπ
Bonus - resulting scented water can be used as a light room spray.
I added 1/4 volume distilled alcohol - vodka - as a preservative and poured into recycled spray bottle.

- Flowers
- Herb plants - all parts
- Evergreen cuttings
- Weeds
- Scissors or plant snips
- Basket of steamer to use for collecting.
