How to fold an origami basket (easter)

Let's start with the handle.

Fold in half horizontally and vertically.

With the coloured side down, fold both edges to the middle to make a door base.

Fold edges to the centre again like so.

Fold in half.

Fold in half again like this. (It will be easy because there is already a crease there).

Set aside the handle while we make the basket.

Starting with the coloured side down, fold in half horizontally and vertically.

Turn over and fold in half diagonally like so.

Make sure the open and is at the top.

Fold down the first layer like so.

Fold in half so that it looks like this.

Turn over, and repeat the last two steps.

Bring in your handle.

Turn over and repeat.

Turn over and repeat.

Make sure they line up properly at the bottom.

Fold up the bottom like so to help collapse the basket.

Round the handle if you like.

There are lots of options when it come to the flaps. For example, you can leave them out...

Lay them over the top like a cover...

Or fold/stick inside the basket. All variations look lovely!

Plenty of uses too! You could hold a painted egg...

Or give it to someone as a gift!
