You always cover your canvas with a thin coat of a liquid gray. This will allow your colors to blend on the canvas as you paint.

Sketch the outline of the head, then fill in the background with black. Once you are done, you can take the remaining black on your fingers and scrub in the hint of shadow around the eye and nose

More black on your fingers to paint the eyebrow and the football glare marker. Follow the contour of her eye and cheek.

More black to the cheek to thicken the marker up and give it some dimension.

Start to add definition and shadow to her eye. Careful attention to detail with your pinky.

More shadow around the eye. Lots of subtle variance in shadow depth. Start building out the eye lashes.

Add the eye ball as well as some more shadow underneath. A clean pinky can pick up some highlights as well.

Clean pinky with a dab if white to do the reflection in her eye. Build out the lashes a bit more.
Add a slight shadow at the outer edge of the eye on the cheek. White on your thumb for the highlights on the nose.

Make any last adjustments like i did to the eyebrow and nose. Sign the corner with your pinky.
