How to facebook chat on messages app on mac osx

First find your facebook username. (not the login email Address). goto account setting. you'll found your username there. example facebook.com/myUserName -copy myUserName

Open Messages. then preferences. go to account. add an account (click the plus + button).Select Account type Jabber then account name followed by @chat.facebook. com. then enter your Facebook password

a new window appears. this is your facebook menu (seperate from messages app). everything here is self explanatory. double click to message your friend. etc etc...

if you accidentally close the facebook chat menu. its nowhere to be found. to open again click the menu (see screenshot). click account. uncheck and check again the chat.facebook.com.

you call also directly type your friends name on messaes app. you can easily find your facebook friend if it has username@chat.facebook.com or numbers@chat.facebook.com
