STEPS
INGREDIENTS

Start with fresh, cold water that has not been previously heated. Put on to boil while you gather the rest of your supplies.

Because teas are minimally processed, you'll want quality tea.

Rinse your supplies in hot water from the kettle to both clean and warm them. Discard the water.

Add your tea to your infuser basket in the quantity recommended for your specific variety. Here we've used a tablespoon of an herbal blend.
When preparing your water, some basic temperature guidelines can be followed: White & green teas: 175 degrees Oolong teas: 195 degrees Black & herbals: 205-208 degrees

Gently pour water directly over tea leaves.
You may optionally discard the first pour of water immediately after you pour it over the leaves. The harsher notes of tea tend to be most present in this first steep. Simply discard and repour.

Let your tea steep as per the brewing recommendations for your specific type of tea. For a stronger cup, use more tea vs steeping for longer as this brings out bitterness.

Remove steeping basket promptly after brewing time and enjoy your cup of the most popular beverage in the world. Quality tea may be steeped several times. Each steep has its own distinct flavor.
