How to dreadlocks: backcomb and crochet hook method

Separate the hair that you want to dread. I recommend a 1 inch by 1 inch piece. If you're doing a full head of dreads, you want the sectioning to be pretty uniform.

Use hair bands and hair clips to secure the rest of your hair out of the way.

Apparently you don't have to have very dirty hair if you use a product like this. I would still advise that you skip a few washes and braid your section of hair the night before.

It's okay if you have little tendrils left over. Just wrap them around your little ball of back combed hair or palm-roll them in.
