How to draw a sphere with chalk

Use a pencil to trace a circle on your construction paper.

Draw a straight horizontal line that travels behind your circle.

Use white chalk to draw the highlight on the circle. This will represent the area that reflects the light.

Work in a circular motion.

Wrap your finger in tissue, and smudge the white chalk. Smudge in a circular motion.

Now for shadow. outline the side of the circle that will be in shadow based on your light source.

Fill it in like a crescent.

Once again, smudge in a circular motion blending the black with the white.

Touch up the highlight if necessary.

Where will your shadow be?

The shadow will be opposite source. Draw an oval representing the shadow. Make sure it begins directly under the circle and does not go above the horizontal line.

Shade it in with black chalk.

Smooth it in with your finger. Don't forget the tissue.

Add some white below the line. Add some black above the line. Smooth it in. Sign it!
