Ruler, sharp pencil and good eraser. Make a horizon line in the middle of your horizontal paper. Watch to make sure it is not crooked.
Make your vanishing point in the middle of your paper.
Add two diagonal lines that go to the vanishing point. This is a road, but could be a river or railroad tracks.
Add two more diagonal lines if you want a sidewalk.
To make a sidewalk, keep your ruler parallel to your horizon line. The spaces get smaller and closer together as they near the vanishing point.
To make a road, the stripes get smaller and closer together as they near the vanishing point.
Make two very lightly drawn guidelines for your trees or poles.
Draw lightly.
Draw your poles or tree trunks keeping your ruler perpendicular to your horizon line.
Erase your horizon line where it crosses your poles.
Make your pole a cylinder by drawing a curved line on top and bottom.
Draw your trees or candy land candy canes if you want. They get smaller as they near the vanishing point.
Erase your guidelines.
Add details and personalize your drawing.
Draw a tall rectangle with the bottom corner touching the sidewalk. Keep your lines straight.
Erase horizon line inside rectangle.
Add guideline to top corner.
"Chop off" the side of your building.
Keep your ruler straight when you chop off the side.
Erase horizon line and guideline.
Add another rectangle. Do not let it touch the sidewalk.
Erase horizon line.
Add guidelines.
"Chop off" the side.
Erase guidelines and horizon line.
Draw doors. Keep your ruler straight.
Tops of doors go to the vanishing point.
Add windows. Keep ruler parallel with the horizon line.
Now be creative with your buildings.
Sun rays line up with the vanishing point.
Now get creative!!
