How to draw a koi pond

Draw lily pads from the bottom of the paper to a point where there is roughly 3 in. left. Do not draw in a strait line and make them different sizes

Draw a lily pad flower at the top of the smaller lily pads and leave some room between them for the big lily pad.

Draw part of a lily pad under the lily pad flower.

Draw part of a circle between the front and back petals of the flower.

Draw three beams of light coming from the lily pad flower in V shapes; space them and then shade them lightly.

To the left side of the lily pads, draw a tooth like figure. ( do not draw until you've seen step 7 )

This is the figure you will use for the koi fish. Have the top corners be flat and slanted down.

At the bottom tip of the fish, draw two sides of a tail. As you can see the left half is twisted and its supposed to be like that. Draw the tail as close to this as you can.

Draw two side fins on either side of the koi or else it will look like "a carrot" - M.L

Add two feelers to either end of the top part of the koi. DO NOT draw in strait lines.

Draw two oval shaped eyes under the top line of the koi fish.

Add scales to the koi fish. They do not have to be perfect.

Repeat steps 7-12 on the left side of the lily pads.

Put some water detail in the pond and VIOLA! You have you're koi pond!

Go back over your drawing with darker marks and color with the colored pencils. Orange=fish Pink=flower Blue=water Green=lily pads.
