How to draw a camouflage optical illusion

Draw an object or word (in block letters).

Use a ruler to draw horizontal lines across the paper. Make sure the lines go through the object or word.

Use a ruler to draw vertical lines across the entire paper.

Choose a complementary color pair and begin coloring in the first row of squares, alternating colors.

Alternate the starting color of the next row to create a checkerboard pattern.

Continue coloring the background squares in a checkerboard pattern. Do not color any portion of the square that is within the drawing of the object or word.

If the background color was Color A, use Color B to color where that square is inside of the object.

If Color B was used to color the background square, use Color A to color where that square is inside of the object.

Continue coloring in this pattern until the object is colored in. You are finished! Your drawing should be camouflaged!
