How to do the confusion cut

This is my favorite fake cut.

For this example I will use the ace of spades on top and the ace of clubs on bottom.

Hold the deck.

Set the TOP 3rd down on the right of the table.

Set the NEXT 3rd down to the LEFT of the first.

Set the last 3rd on top of the first pile (the one on the right) but leave a little ledge, so you'll be able to just take the two thirds apart.

Don't let the spectator(s) see the ledge. So as you set it down put your hand like this and pick the deck up.

Take the top part (at the ledge) at set it down to the LEFT then set the bottom all the way to the right. Then take the RIGHT pile at set it on top of the next pile to the left. See step 7's picture.
